Collector's Comment:
Antique bronze sword guard from Han Dynasty.
This part is known as the "格" or "挡" of the sword, see the las photo I uploaded. It's equivalent to what we know as the guard. Except the fact that it's intended to be designed more as a stopper to prevent the user's hand to slide to the blade while thrusting.
It's casted by bronze and been buried underground for thousands of years. This one has a crack, shown in the pictures.
