This ring has one 7.25 mm round cultured freshwater pearl.  The pearl was cultured in China.  The pearl weighs 2.80 carats.  It is drilled and peg set on a 1 mm wide 14k rose gold filled band.
The best time to view or photograph pearls is in the morning light.  These pictures were taken with LED lighting.  I have enlarged the photos for better viewing.  It has been placed next to a dime for size reference.
Freshwater pearls occur naturally in cream, whitish & pinks.  Farmers have learned the art of dying the pearls and they are available in many colours.  This pearl has not been dyed, it is off white.
After the naturally coloured freshwater pearls are removed from the mussels, they are slightly polished in a mixture of water and bamboo chips.  If they are white, they are often bleached, and or put under fluorescent lights.  If dyed, the colour is permanent.  Bleaching is impossible to detect.
My pearls were purchased from reputable dealers from the Orient. This is not simulated (majorca or mallorca), glass, assembled or a plastic imitation pearl.  This is a natural cultured freshwater pearl.  Sleek & smooth, the pearl accessorize nicely for any occasion.  You do not need to dress formally to wear pearls.  Pearls are worn as everyday jewelry accessory.
A great irony of pearl history is that the least expensive cultured pearl product in the market rivals the quality of the most expensive natural pearls ever found.  As a consumer, the price-value anomaly of natural vs. cultured pearls has created the liveliest activity in pearling today.
Because pearls are organic, they are affected by conditions in their environment.  Excessive heat or open flame can cause a pearl to brown, split, crack or burn (window sill).  Even dry air will cause a pearl to dehydrate and the nacre will crack.  Acids will corrode as well as harmful gases.  When worn on the body regularly, pearls are lubricated by natural body oils, which help them retain their reflective qualities.
Remove any pearl jewelry you wear when you may expose them to these conditions.  Do not swim with them in chlorinated pools, or hot tubs for instance.  Also, put your pearls on after you use hairspray and perfume, for example.  And most of all, wear them.
Pearls do not yellow with age, they will absorb elements they are exposed to, so it is best to wipe them gently with a soft cloth and store them in the included lock tight plastic bag until ready to wear again.  The padded gift box they are sent is also perfect for storage to protect from scratching by your other jewelry.
Although pearl is only 2.5 - 4.5 on Mohs' hardness scale, they are extraordinarily compact and it is very difficult to crush them.   These pearls are a testimony to the mastering techniques of the Japanese and Chinese producing cultured pearls and the commercial production of pearl farms since the 1930's.  These are a result of the cultured pearl revolution.
Karat gold-filled is a quality jeweler's metal. With reasonable care, they can last for generations. Karat gold filled is made by using heat and pressure to permanently bond a layer of gold to a core of brass or other base metal. It is not the same as gold plated, which is a cheap, thin coating of gold only a molecule thick. Karat gold filled has around 100 times more gold in it than gold plated. The surface of karat gold filled settings are totally covered with a thick layer of karat gold, and that is what comes in contact with your skin, all gold. It does not discolor or flake off like gold plate does. As a high quality jeweler's metal, gold filled is a way to have affordable, heirloom quality jewelry at one twentieth of the cost of solid gold.
All gold is yellow. There is no such thing as red, pink, rose, green or white gold. When jewelers speak of colored gold, they mean colored gold alloys. In the jewelry industry, the quantity of gold-filled settings must be at least 1/20th by weight of the total product. 10 karat signifies 10 parts of 24 parts are gold. 14 karat signifies 14 parts of 24 parts are gold.
I guarantee my jewelry 100%.  If you are dissatisfied with your purchase, return your item and I will gladly refund your purchase price. I do not charge a restocking fee on returned merchandise.
