*Welcome To My Auction*This delicate and feminine sterling silver & rhinestone set features a pendant necklace and pierced stud earrings. This sweet and tiny pendant measures 3/8” in diameter and features a filigree design sterling silver pendant with a prong set aurora borealis rhinestone center stone. This pendant comes on a 16” fine sterling silver cable chain. The pendant is signed SORRENTO and is marked Sterling. The spring ring is also marked STERLING. The matching earrings are identical to the pendant and have a butterfly clutch closure. This set is in Excellent Condition and would look great on girls of all ages.

Sorrento Jewelry History —
Sorrento is the registered trademark of the Uncas Manufacturing Company, established in 1911 in Providence, Rhode Island. Uncas was founded by Vincent Sorrentino, an Italian immigrant, and then was passed along to his son Stanley. Most of Sorrento jewelry is either gold plated or sterling silver with delicate and somewhat classic designs. This jewelry is now attracting collectors' interest and is much more desirable than the common and lower quality Uncas jewelry with the famous U and Arrow trademark.
Uncas is the registered trademark of the Uncas Manufacturing Company, established in 1911 by Vincent Sorrentino in Providence, Rhode Island. According to Stanley Sorrentino and internal company newsletters, Vincent formed a partnership with John Lanigan, and named the company Sorrentino and Lanigan. Later he bought out his partner and changed the company name to Sorrentino Ring Company and finally Uncas Manufacturing Company, in 1915.
Known for its finger rings, Uncas became a major U.S. ring manufacturer marketing its products through a variety of retail outlets, including five and dime stores such as Woolworth and Kresge chains. Uncas' success was largely due to selling its jewelry at affordable prices, including its famous ten-cent wedding rings. During the 1930s, the firm continued its growth and expansion through acquisition of 12 different companies and offering a broad range of products with a worldwide distribution. In the 1950s, Uncas added an extensive line of religious jewelry.
Vincent Sorrentino retired in 1960 and his son, Stanley Sorrentino, became the president of the company. Under Stanley's leadership, the firm continued its process of diversification. In the mid-1980s, Uncas became a supplier of character and theme merchandise for the Disney Corporation. John Corsini, an Uncas veteran, acquired the company and was named president in 1991, he began creating a second family business to lead Uncas with his own son and daughters.
Uncas Manufacturing company used many trademarks among which are the U and Arrow circa 1919, Crystogem circa 1927, Kiddiegem circa 1934, Stylecraft Gems circa 1938, Stylerite circa1941, Personality 1941, Glow-Lite circa 1942, Jewels of Fashion circa 1947, Curtis Creations circa 1950, encircled CC and hand circa 1950, Bunny circa 1950, Sorrento circa 1951, Coronado circa 1955, Ring-O-Rama circa 1958, Christian Heritage circa 1958, Uncas circa 1959, Vincenzo, Sorrento, Corsini Collection, Sorrento Sterling, Sorrento 1/20 12K G.F., and the letter U with an arrow passing through it or between two arrows pointing towards it. The last two marks are most often found on gold plated rings. Jewelry marked Sorrento, was primarily in sterling silver. There were many trademarks that followed.
President and CEO John Corsini and his son Christopher, who is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, celebrated 100 years in business in June, 2011. The company marked its 100-year milestone with a new website and logo that reflects the spirit of its namesake Uncas, a legendary American Indian from James Fenimore Cooper's famous novel The Last of the Mohicans.
Uncas today (2011) is a global manufacturer and distributor of jewelry and accessories, often sold as private-label brands. Its customers range from leading retail stores to major discounters to amusement parks and entertainment industry icons to shopping distribution networks and other fashion consumers throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, the company has offices in Florida and California as well as a New York City showroom and two China locations in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
