Since recycled plastics are created entirely from reclaimed waste, they cut out the need to extract and refine additional oil. This leads to recycled plastics having a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions!
By being made entirely from recycled materials, recycled shipping mailers help to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in our waterways, environment, and landfills.

100% Recycled SMART Mailers™ vs. Compostable Mailers:
100% Recycled SMART Mailers™
Compostable Mailers
Materials
Made entirely from old plastic, Smart Shipping Supply's SMART Mailers™ help to repurpose plastics already in circulation by giving them a new life!
Compostable mailers are made from virgin materials such as PLA and PBAT which are derived from plant sources and fossil fuels respectively (crazy right?!).
Energy Usage
Since it's made entirely from waste, little energy investment is required to obtain the raw materials.
Significant energy investments are required to cultivate and grow the plants required to produce PLA. Additionally, fertilizers and pesticides are used during the farming process, often leading to the pollution of waterways and nearby ecosystems.
Disposability
SMART Mailers™ should be recycled with soft plastics in designated collection centers widely available in most grocery stores across the nation. You can find the nearest collection center by visiting this website.
Compostable mailers should be composted in either a home or industrial compost bin. Unfortunately, the majority of Americans do not have access to compost bins making them difficult to dispose of. Please note that compostable mailers should NOT be recycled as they contaminate recycling centers!
Carbon Footprint
Since SMART Mailers™ are made entirely from waste, they require a significantly smaller energy investment to produce than traditional virgin mailers! This helps to reduce its carbon footprint!
Since compostable mailers are made entirely from virgin materials, they actually have a higher carbon footprint than 100% recycled mailers! Additionally, compostable mailers are made from approximately 70% PBAT which is often derived from virgin petroleum thus increasing its carbon footprint!
