    Description

This handsome, soutache decorated charcoal gray skirt is being paired with a 1930's-40's jacket, because it shouldn't go out into this world alone.
The skirt is of a heavy, blanket type wool, the hem is decorated with elaborate black swirling soutache designs. There is a satin waistband that was never finished at the closure, it overlaps at the waist, and has no fasteners.
The hem is faced with cotton, and edged with wool braid.
It's in very good condition, with one very small hole, pictured above.
The skirt measures 34 1/2" around at the waist, not included the extra fabric at the waistband. It's 43" long.
The jacket, which has a "Muriel's, New Haven" label at the neck, is of a moire rayon, has puffy sleeves, a standup collar, and a long silhouette, plus a closure that is a bit off to the side, evidence of the Victorian revival in fashion during the mid to late 1930's.
The self fabric, round button and loop closure is typical of the 1930's, however. It's lined with black rayon, has a bust measurement of 41".  There are some light abrasions to the fabric in back, this is minor.
